Real Rubber bottom, no slip (Tried on rainy day), rubber insole that seems to attach at heel...didn't try pulling away,  (accidently came up when taking off, and noticed piece of rubber, just tucked back in and all good.)  Very Nice and Very Well Made!  Even if you do buy larger, the laces hold exactly where you tie, just like some military boots.  Roomy for your feet and breathe well.  You don't really feel "flat foot" like some cheapy shoes and no "shock" if you stomp the floor.  Not tried submerged yet.
